The Wyndham and Wyndhamian Retrievers began in 1953, whem Ed Atkins, then a ten year old boy obtained a superbly bred Flat Coated Retriever, an equally well bred Chesapeake Bay Retriever and his first junior hunting license. From the very beginning learning everything possible about these breeds, their histories, breeders, bloodlines, form and function and personalities became an avocation as was hunting. This started as and remains a serious hobby and all breedings and dog related decisions are based upon producing the very best animals possible for the home kennel and as needed selling a few others to folks seeking a quality hunting dog and family member that is also good looking and representative of its breed. Great care is taken to prove our stock the old fashion way by hunting them long and hard each year from late summer thru early winter. Thorough veterinary testing is carried out to insure sound and healthy animals and no expense of time or money is spared when seeking to breed to the very best. Priorities are health, soundness, longevity temperament, and the breed charactoristics that make a Chesapeake or a Flatcoat unique breeds.
