![]() About Music's German ShepherdsOur Breeding Philosophy First we are a hobby kennel and only have one or two litters per year. We love our dogs and want to pass on the great qualities they have. In breeding our German Shepherd dogs we are careful to select the breeding pairs based on how they might compliment each other. At this time we use Farbenholt Kennels stud service and we make joint decisions as to who we breed. We believe that a breeding should improve on the combination of the qualities the two partners have to offer. We take into consideration general health history, color, temperament, structure and drives. We also keep very accurate records of our litter development to ensure that we can assist in placing the correct puppy in the correct home. Our goal is to produce sound, friendly, loving companions who can also be used for working situations. We do not breed specifically for sale, but only when we want to carry on our program and have two dogs worthy of breeding a good quality German Shepherd. Our belief is before anyone decides to breed they need to do health clearances on their dogs ie: hips, elbows, patellas, hearts, kidney, eyes and any other congenital defects that may affect their breed. They need to compete in the show ring to get an honest opinion and evaluation of their dogs. Breeding should never be done " Just to make money". It is a tool to better the breed. If you cannot produce better than what you have, you should not be breeding, in my opinion. You should know your AKC standard, inside and out and be willing to admit when you have a dog that does not fit nicely in that standard. As for temperament, we do not want timid or fearful dogs. We do not want unstable dogs. We try to achieve dogs with stable temperament, with courage and loyalty. Not all German Shepherds are suitable for breeding, even attaining a championship does not validate breeding a dog. Many factors should be considered before a potential dam or sire are used for breeding. The parentage, ancestors and siblings of potential acquisitions should be researched, conformation to the breed standard, temperament and freedom from genetic disease must all be considered. A championship does not prove a dog is free of elbow or hip dysplasia, nor does a "good" OFA, mean a dog is stable in temperament, and superior enough in conformation to be bred. The German Shepherd breed is a working dog. A working dog in our opinion can be utilized to serve a multitude of different tasks. Not only is work defined as police service, schutzhund, agility, SAR, or handicap aid, but also just as importantly, as a loyal, confident companion. All German Shepherd parents are on premise and available for viewing. All puppies are AKC Registered and their parents have OFA good or better hips and elbows. Train ability is a must and is required to be proven by both parents. This does not necessarily mean only for working but basic obedience skills are required. We want to provide you with alifetime companion. We love to hear about our puppies progress and also answer any questions you have, so please keep in touch. Friendship has no price. I also am priveleged to own 2 GSD's from her, via Inga and Knight. The brother KLAUS is so gorgeous, gentle and sound that during both confirmation and obedience classes the other female dogs went crazy for him! He is stunning and so funny yet very paternal too. His sister "DAISY" was and is so beautiful, smart and is the joy factory of my 5 GSD's. Shannon does an incredible job raising the pups, properly selecting suitable owners and truly being the most responsible breeder I have ever met. Should you be lucky enough to own on of her K9's, you will own the best. |
